Liz Brewer has appeared on British and international television for more than four decades as a documentary subject, etiquette teacher, society commentator, event organiser and expert on social behaviour.

Her credits range from the award-winning BBC Arena film Ligmalion and the BBC Two documentary The Fame Game to ITV’s internationally successful Ladette to Lady, television news debates, lifestyle programmes and long-form digital interviews.

1985

Ligmalion: A Musical for the ’80s

This award-winning BBC Arena documentary-musical was the first film to feature Liz Brewer.

The film follows actor Gordon Shilling as he attempts to enter the world of fashionable 1980s London. At Peter York’s launch for You & Non-U, York explains that Gordon needs to enter a different social world and introduces him to Liz.

Liz appears approximately 34 minutes into the programme. Filming involving Liz took place at her home, The Ritz and Ayton Castle in Scotland. The programme also follows events surrounding Robert Maxwell’s launch of The European newspaper and features Sting, Peter York, Richard Young, Tim Curry, Alexei Sayle and other notable figures.

Modern Times: The Fame Game

Ladette to Lady

Liz became nationally recognised as one of the finishing-school teachers on ITV’s Ladette to Lady.

She taught contestants etiquette, conversation, dining manners, social confidence and appropriate behaviour in formal and professional situations.

The format subsequently travelled internationally and led to Liz appearing in the Australian adaptation.
